President Donald Trump has taken back his support for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and called her a “ranting lunatic” in public. He has also said he will back a conservative primary opponent.
Trump said in a long post on Friday night that Greene was “complaining, complaining, complaining” instead of praising what he called his administration’s “record achievements.” He claimed Greene had told others she was upset he no longer returned her calls and said he could not “take a ranting lunatic’s call every day” with demands on his time from lawmakers, world leaders and advisers.
Trump said Greene had “gone Far Left,” citing her recent appearance on “The View,” and unveiled a new nickname, “Wacky Marjorie.” He also vowed his “Complete and Unyielding Support” for any “wonderful, Conservative” candidate who decides to challenge her in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.
Greene, a staunch Trump ally since entering Congress in 2021, quickly fired back on social media. She said Trump “just attacked me and lied about me,” insisting she had not called him but had sent text messages earlier in the day, according to X.
Greene linked the outburst to her push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, alleging Trump is “fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out” and trying to “scare all the other Republicans” ahead of next week’s vote. She said she has invested “too much” time and money supporting Trump but added, “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God… and I serve my district GA14 and the American people,” while pledging to remain “America First and America Only.”
