Trump Threatens Iranian Power Plants and Bridges in New Hormuz Warning

Trump’s latest post sharpened his warning to Iran as the Monday evening deadline from his earlier ultimatum approached.

President Donald Trump threatened strikes on Iranian power plants and bridges, issuing a new warning as the deadline from his earlier ultimatum over the Strait of Hormuz neared.

On Sunday, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that Tuesday would be “Power Plant Day and Bridge Day” in Iran and told Tehran to reopen the strait. He warned of severe consequences if Iran did not reach an agreement.

Trump’s Saturday comment that Iran had 48 hours to reach a deal or the Strait of Hormuz would close again preceded the post. He told Iran they had ten days to act, but as the deadline got closer, he shortened that time.

Trump’s most recent warning didn’t mention any new talks. That was a change from what he had said in public a week before, when he said the US and Iran had had “very excellent and productive conversations” over two days about what he called a complete end to hostilities in the Middle East.

Trump also said on March 23 that he had ordered military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure to be put off for five days while talks were still going on. He added another 10 days to that break on March 26 and said it would last until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET. He said that the Iranian government asked for the extension and that talks were going “very well.”

In a different post on Truth Social on March 26, Trump said that Iranian negotiators were “very different and strange” and that they were “begging” for a deal while also saying they were looking over a U.S. proposal. He warned Iran to act fast or there would be “no turning back.”

His Sunday post now suggests that something might happen after the Monday evening deadline.
