Trump Says Spending to Help Republicans Will Top $400 Million by Election Day

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that more than $300 million has been spent to help Republicans in the midterm elections and that the total will exceed $400 million by Election Day.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said the money had gone toward advertising, voter outreach, rallies, venues, telephone rallies, get-out-the-vote programs and activities he described as “Election Integrity.”

“I have spent, or will be spending, over 400 Million Dollars by Election Day,” he wrote.

The announcement came two weeks before the Nov. 3 elections. Republicans are defending their majorities in the House and Senate, while Democrats are trying to regain control of Congress.

Trump said the spending reflected his support for the Republican Party and its policies. His list of expenses also included rally venues, telephone rallies and what he called “Election Integrity” efforts. He did not say how much had gone toward each activity.

Although Trump described the spending in personal terms, the post did not say he was paying with his own money. The washingtonpost reported that the funds come through MAGA Inc., a super PAC, and the affiliated nonprofit Securing American Greatness. ()

Trump also pointed to events in France and elsewhere in Europe as a reason for his commitment. He did not specify which events he meant.
