President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have agreed to carry out the first phase of a White House peace plan intended to end the war in Gaza, according to a post on Truth Social.
Trump said the initial steps include the release of all hostages “very soon” and an Israeli troop pullback to an agreed line. He described the move as the start of a “strong, durable, and everlasting peace,” and said “all parties will be treated fairly.”
He thanked mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey “who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event happen,” as stated.
“The first Phase of our Peace Plan” has been “signed off” by both sides, Trump wrote, calling it “a great day” for the region and the United States. The statement did not include a timetable or additional operational details.
