In a bold move announced Friday on Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump declared that he has officially filed what he called a “POWERHOUSE Lawsuit” against the Wall Street Journal, its corporate affiliates, and key executives including Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson.
Trump Announces Legal Action on Truth Social
The announcement came via Trump’s verified Truth Social account, where he accused the Journal of publishing “false, malicious, defamatory, FAKE NEWS.”
Trump’s post specifically names media magnates Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson, adding that they are “at the top of the list” of those being held accountable. He also drew parallels to previous actions against major news outlets such as ABC, CBS, and even the Pulitzer organization.
Broader Campaign Against ‘Fake News’
The lawsuit, which Trump claims is filed “on behalf of all Americans,” aims to challenge what he describes as a systemic abuse of media power. He emphasized the need to hold mainstream media accountable for “pushing disgusting LIES, and even FRAUD.”
While full legal documents are not yet public, Trump’s language suggests the lawsuit could result in extensive deposition sessions involving top executives at News Corp, which owns the Wall Street Journal.
