Trump Calls Epstein Revelations a ‘Hoax,’ Blames Past Supporters for Falling for It

Trump says he “no longer wants” support from past allies promoting Epstein-related claims.

    Highlights:
    • Trump brands growing scrutiny over Epstein ties as the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax.”
    • He accuses Democrats and former allies of pushing false narratives.
    • The remarks come amid public pressure over alleged Epstein client list revelations.

    The Statement

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump released a fiery and extensive post on Truth Social, dismissing recent allegations and public discourse surrounding Jeffrey Epstein as a “hoax” and expressing frustration with what he calls “past supporters” for embracing “Fake News-driven scams.”

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax,” Trump wrote. “My PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker… I don’t want their support anymore!”

“They are no good at governing, no good at policy, and no good at picking winning candidates… Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax.”

Trump also compared the recent surge of media focus to past controversies, including the Steele Dossier, the “Laptop from Hell,” and the 2016 Russia investigation, calling them all “fake and made up stories.”

Background: Why the Epstein Topic Has Reignited

The renewed public and political interest in Jeffrey Epstein’s case follows the release of previously sealed court documents related to Epstein’s associates and clients. Though the files have not conclusively implicated Trump, his past interactions with Epstein—ranging from social events to press quotes—have been cited by critics and analysts as worth re-examining.

In early July, unsealed documents from a federal court case involving Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell included mentions of numerous high-profile figures. While most mentions lacked substantiating evidence of wrongdoing, public demand for transparency has grown louder across party lines.

On social media and independent platforms, pro-MAGA influencers and former Trump allies have raised questions about Trump’s past comments about Epstein and his sudden pivot to labeling it all as a “hoax.” Several Truth Social and X (formerly Twitter) accounts known for pro-Trump content have since shifted their tone, requesting clarity from the president.

    Political Fallout and Media Response

Trump’s post appears to be a direct response to both left-wing media and disillusioned supporters who have started probing deeper into the Epstein saga. It also reflects a broader trend in which Trump has increasingly turned on former allies or supporters who diverge from his narrative.

So far, no formal investigation has named Trump in criminal wrongdoing related to Epstein. However, ongoing legal scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s estate and his relationships with powerful figures continues to drive public debate.

“Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work,” Trump said. “Don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success.”

    What’s Next?

As political pressure mounts, analysts suggest Trump’s combative stance is a strategic attempt to distance himself from potential fallout while energizing his loyal base ahead of the 2026 midterms. Whether the strategy will resonate with undecided voters—or alienate more supporters—remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, bipartisan calls for full release of the Epstein client list and investigative transparency continue to grow, with Senate Republicans and Democrats demanding oversight hearings in fall 2025.
