Travis Decker Manhunt Enters Fourth Week with No Confirmed Leads

Kittitas County on alert as manhunt for suspected child killer enters fourth week with no confirmed sightings

    Highlights:
    • Travis Decker has been missing for 24 days following the murder of his three daughters
    • Hundreds of officers, search dogs, and agencies continue the coordinated search
    • Kittitas County deputies remain on high alert despite no verified signs of Decker’s presence
    • Public tips, trail cameras, and citizen vigilance remain critical to the investigation
    • Decker is considered armed, trained, and extremely dangerous

    The Crime That Stunned Washington

On June 3, 2025, Travis Decker vanished into the forests of Chelan County after allegedly killing his three daughters—Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia—at a remote campground near Rock Island. In the 24 days since, a multi-county manhunt has grown into one of the largest active searches in Washington State history. Yet the question still remains: where is Travis Decker?

The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), in partnership with Chelan County and multiple state and federal agencies, has deployed search teams, tactical units, and aerial reconnaissance in a desperate bid to find the suspect before he strikes again—or disappears for good, according to the June 23 KCSO update.

Kittitas County: On Guard and Under Watch

Though the murders occurred in Chelan County, neighboring Kittitas County has maintained an elevated state of readiness. Deputies have blanketed key backcountry areas such as the Teanaway Valley, Blewett Pass, Liberty, and Lauderdale. Tactical teams have remained embedded in remote terrain, aided by tracking dogs and experienced observers, according to a KCSO patrol update.

“Still, we can’t and won’t quit this search; Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia Decker deserve justice. And Decker remains a danger to the public as long as he’s at large.”
Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, June 23 Update

Despite the scale of the search, law enforcement concedes a frustrating reality: there is currently no verified evidence that Decker remains alive—or even in the region. Early leads have cooled. Reported sightings have gone unconfirmed. Yet the threat persists, and the search continues.

An Army of Agencies, and a Community on Alert

The pursuit has involved more than a dozen agencies, including the US Marshals Service, which has deployed its fugitive task force to trace Decker should he have left the wilderness. Supporting agencies include the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Moses Lake Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, US Forest Service, Yakima Office of Emergency Management, and Ellensburg Police Department, according to KCSO’s coordinated response update.

Backcountry surveillance remains active. Drones, ground teams, and trailhead monitors are still deployed. But authorities stress: they need the public’s eyes.

“We again ask property owners and visitors to be keenly aware of any disturbance or activity at their property,” said the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, adding that anyone with trail cameras in the affected zones should review their footage and notify law enforcement.

    Danger Lurking in the Wilderness

From the outset, authorities warned that Decker’s military training and wilderness survival experience could allow him to evade capture indefinitely. On June 6, the U.S. Forest Service closed portions of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, including the Icicle Creek area, believing Decker might still be in the vicinity. But on June 8, the closure was lifted when targeted searches failed to confirm his presence, according to the Forest Service update.

“There is no specific evidence that Decker is in our county or has plans to come here,” the Sheriff’s Office stated, “but residents and visitors are urged to be alert and exercise caution.”
