NEW DELHI – In a heartfelt response to the devastating crash of Air India Flight 171 near Ahmedabad, the Tata Group, which owns the airline, has announced a comprehensive relief package. Each bereaved family will receive ₹1 crore equivalent to USD 120K , and all injured passengers will receive full medical care and rehabilitation support.
The announcement came in an official statement from N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, who expressed profound sorrow at the tragedy that claimed 242 lives. The Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff, with only one known survivor reported so far.
No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured.
Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who has lost their life in this tragedy. We will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support. Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical’s hostel.

In addition to direct support to victims, the conglomerate will assist in rebuilding infrastructure impacted by the crash, including contributions to B J Medical College’s hostel, which suffered collateral damage from the debris.
