Tanimbar Islands earthquake recorded at magnitude 6.1 with a shallow 10 km depth, per GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

A 6.1-magnitude quake hit the Tanimbar Islands region of eastern Indonesia at 11:46 GMT Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

GFZ reported that the epicentre of the quake was initially at 6.55° south latitude and 131.08° east longitude at a depth of 10.0 kilometers.

There were no initial reports of injury or damage released by officials.
