Centre Court witnessed a result for the ages on Saturday as Poland’s Iga Świątek demolished American hopeful Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 to capture the Venus Rosewater Dish and become the first player from her country — man or woman — to win Wimbledon.
The 57-minute blitz, the tournament’s first love-love ladies’ final since 1911, delivered Świątek her sixth major title and her first on grass, completing a rare surface trifecta of major victories on hard, clay, and now the sport’s most storied lawn.

Dominance Redefined
Świątek, 24, entered the final with questions about her grass-court pedigree but left no doubt about her adaptability. Striking 26 winners to just four unforced errors, she suffocated Anisimova with relentless depth and pinpoint returning, breaking serve in all six of the American’s service games.
“I finally feel at home on this surface,” Świątek told the crowd during the trophy ceremony. “Amanda will be back here; I’m sure we’ll play many more finals together.” The triumph also marked her 100th Grand Slam match win, a milestone reached in trademark efficiency.
Anisimova Admits Nerves
Anisimova, competing in her maiden major final, struggled to settle. The 23-year-old produced flashes of her trademark power but sprayed 24 errors and could never unlock Świątek’s pace-changing spin.
“I always believe in myself, so I’ll use this as motivation to come back stronger,” she said, thanking her team and her mother during an emotional runner-up speech.
What It Means
- Świątek is now 6-0 in major finals, the first woman to sweep her opening six since Monica Seles in 1992.
- The Pole joins an elite group of active players with Slam titles on all three surfaces.
- Anisimova is projected to soar back into the top 20 with her runner-up finish.
