Department of War Identifies Two Soldiers Killed in Jordan Attack

The Department of War on July 20 identified 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, as soldiers killed after an attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

Feehan, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was killed in action July 18; Gonzales, of Carrollton, Texas, was killed in action July 17. Both supported Operation Inherent Resolve.

U.S. Central Command said the July 17 attack involved Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. Its initial statement reported two deaths July 17.

The department’s later release dated Feehan’s death July 18. The incident remains under investigation.

Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Gonzales was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, in Ansbach, Germany.

In a July 19 update, CENTCOM said one service member remained missing. Searchers found unidentified remains at the site, and verification was ongoing.

Four service members evacuated to Jordanian hospitals were discharged, CENTCOM said.

In northern Iraq, CENTCOM said a service member was killed July 18 during a controlled detonation involving unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member was receiving treatment for a minor injury.
