Shreya Ghoshal to Open ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in Guwahati, India

Shreya Ghoshal to headline the opening ceremony as ICC launches record-low ticket prices and a four-day Google Pay presale.

The International Cricket Council on Thursday announced that famous Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal would sing at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in Guwahati, which will happen before the first game between India and Sri Lanka. The ICC is promoting the event as a celebration of the “energy, spirit, and unity” of women’s cricket. It will take place in four Indian cities and Colombo, Sri Lanka.

There will be two phases of ticket sales, with the first phase being fan-friendly and the ICC says it will be the lowest price ever for an ICC global event. During the first window, league-match tickets in India cost INR 100 (approximately USD 1.14). This is to make sure that the stadiums are filled and the atmosphere is lively as women’s cricket gains popularity.

Google Pay customers can buy tickets early for four days only, from 19:00 IST on Thursday, September 4, to 19:00 IST on Monday, September 8, at Tickets.cricketworldcup.com. On Tuesday, September 9, at 20:00 IST, the second phase of the public sale starts. The ICC said that the first phase includes all of India’s round-robin league matches for Google Pay customers. Fans can also sign up to show interest before the public sale starts.

Ghoshal has also recorded the tournament’s official song, “Bring it Home,” which will be part of the opening night show in Guwahati, along with themed visuals and activities on the ground. The ICC said that the performance will kick off a month-long celebration of women’s cricket.

This year’s Women’s Cricket World Cup is back in India after 12 years.
