Russian Strikes Kill 11 in Kyiv Region and Slovyansk, Zelenskyy Says

Russian missile and guided-bomb strikes killed 11 people in the Kyiv region and Slovyansk on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy said six were killed in a missile strike in the Kyiv region. Dozens more were said to have been injured.

The rescue operation was still underway. Work to establish exactly what happened and account for everyone affected was continuing, according to his post on X.

In Slovyansk, Zelenskyy reported five deaths and nine injuries after guided aerial bomb strikes. He said homes, vehicles and a consulate building were damaged.

Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of those killed in Russian attacks. He described the strikes as attacks on civilians and said Russia must be held accountable.

He also said Ukraine’s partners had a role in protecting lives. Interceptors for Patriot air defense systems were the “number one priority,” he said.
