Russian forces struck the Ukrainian capital early Fr iday with drones and ballistic missiles, setting ablaze ten residential buildings and damaging wide areas of the city, according to Xinhua.
The Kiev city administration, in a post on the Telegram social messenger, said damage was reported in eight districts following the overnight strikes. According to officials, emergency services were dispatched across the capital to contain fires and assess structural damage in multiple neighborhoods.
The head of the Kiev City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said that at least five people were injured in the eastern Dniprovskyi district. Xinhua said the conditions of those wounded were not immediately detailed.
Authorities did not immediately release information on possible fatalities, the number of residents evacuated or the scale of damage inside the apartment blocks that came under attack. No public figures were given on how many drones or missiles were launched or intercepted during the attack.
According to Xinhua, the most recent barrage is part of a series of midnight attacks on Kyiv that have hit both homes and city infrastructure.. Local officials have repeatedly called on residents to heed air-raid alerts, to take cover in shelters when possible, and to avoid sharing unofficial images or information about ongoing attacks.
