A Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv killed nine people and damaged 18 residential buildings, a school and the Lithuanian Embassy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday.
The attack affected seven districts of the capital, and dozens of people were injured, Zelenskyy said. Medical teams were treating the wounded.
Russia launched 35 missiles overnight, including 27 ballistic missiles, along with 185 attack drones, according to Zelenskyy.
Kyiv was the main target, but strikes also hit the Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions, he said.
Only one ballistic missile was intercepted, Zelenskyy said, blaming a shortage of interceptors for the Patriot air-defense systems.

The strike came a day after Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces had hit three Russian logistics centers, an oil refinery and a maritime terminal on July 31 in a long-range campaign against Russia’s war economy.
Those strikes, in the Sarapul, Kazan and Volgograd areas and Russia’s Krasnodar and Volgograd regions, were reported by Zelenskyy and could not be independently verified.
