Pam Bondi Fires DOJ Employee After Obscene Gestures Toward National Guard

DOJ memo cites “inappropriate conduct toward National Guard service members”; removal effective immediately, appeal to MSPB possible.

    DEVELOPING

Attorney General Pam Bondi has removed Elizabeth A. Baxter, a Paralegal Specialist (GS-0950-11) in the Department of Justice’s Environmental Defense Section, from federal service effective immediately, according to an official memorandum dated Aug. 29, 2025. The notice cites “inappropriate conduct toward National Guard service members” and advises Baxter of her right to appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board within required timelines.

Bondi fired the employee on Friday after a series of incidents in Washington, D.C.: Baxter arrived at DOJ’s “4CON” building in NoMa at 8:21 a.m. on Aug. 18 and told a DOJ security guard she had flipped off a guardsman at Metro Center, adding, “F–k the National Guard.” At 12:18 p.m. the same day, security cameras captured her raising her middle finger toward National Guard personnel and saying, “F–k you!” One week later, on Aug. 25, she again told a guard she hated the National Guard and told them to “F–k off,” according to the New York Post, which quoted Bondi.
