Fakhar Zaman’s fifty and Shaheen Afridi’s late surge carried Pakistan to 146/9 before the bowlers closed out a 41-run win over the UAE.

In a thrilling group-stage match at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday, Pakistan defeated the UAE by 41 runs to advance to the Asia Cup Super Four.

Pakistan scored total 146 for nine in 20 overs after losing the toss. After early hiccups, Fakhar Zaman supported the top order with a calm 50 off 36 balls. Pakistan fell to 9 for 2 in three overs when Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan were removed cheaply.

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s unbeaten 29 off 14 deliveries gave late impetus. Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 20 runs. Julaid Siddique of UAE took four wickets for 18 runs, and Simranjeet Singh took three for 26.

UAE lost 105 wickets in 17.4 overs after struggling to form partnerships. Rahul Chopra struck 35 and Dhruv Parashar 20 against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, while the rest struggled.

As Man of the Match, Afridi took two wickets for 16 runs in three overs. Saim Ayub and Salman Agha each took one wicket, while Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf caught two.

Pakistan joined Group A’s India in the Super Four after the win. After losing twice, UAE left the tournament.
