Norway’s government will ask the Storting to keep its extraordinary support for Ukraine at 85 billion kroner (about $9.2 billion) in 2027, the Prime Minister’s Office announced Aug. 23.
The proposed support would continue through the Nansen Program for Ukraine and cover civilian and military purposes. Most would again go to military support, including purchases from Ukraine’s defense industry.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre presented the proposal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting in Kyiv on Ukraine’s Flag Day.
Støre said Norway would continue supporting Ukraine’s defense as the country faces a difficult winter. He described the proposal as a clear signal that Norway would maintain both civilian and military support, adding that supporting and rebuilding Ukraine is important to European security.
The government did not specify how it would divide the funding between military and civilian support. It said it would return to the allocation at a later stage.
