North Korea launched two suspected ballistic missiles on Sunday, according to Kyodo News.
Japanese officials said the projectiles were believed to have fallen outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. A government source said no damage to ships or aircraft has been reported, Kyodo News reported.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi instructed government officials to gather information and quickly provide necessary details to the public, while ensuring the safety of aircraft and ships and preparing for contingencies, her office said, according to Kyodo News.
Japan’s government and defense officials were continuing to monitor the situation, as regional tensions remain high over North Korea’s weapons programs and continued military activity in the area.
