Multiple people were reported injured after a shooting inside a Chick-fil-A in Union, New Jersey, on Saturday night, according to WABC and CBS New York.
The shooting was reported just before 9 p.m. at the restaurant’s Route 22 location. Police locked down the area as officers responded to the scene and began investigating.
A man who said his girlfriend works at the restaurant told CBS New York that a group of masked men ran inside, forced their way behind the counter, and fired several shots. Authorities have not publicly confirmed that account.
A family member of another employee told reporters that an altercation broke out before the gunfire and that multiple workers were injured. Law enforcement has not confirmed those details.
“I heard the shots,” a Lyft driver told WABC. “When I finished the trip, I went to Chick-fil-A to buy two burgers. I saw the police, and I heard the shots very close.”
Another worker’s father described the scene as a “warzone.”
Officials have not said how many people were injured, whether anyone was killed, or what led to the shooting. A heavy police presence remained at the restaurant late Saturday as officers sealed off the area and examined the scene.
According to the reports, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation. Authorities had not released further details.
