According to a high-ranking army source quoted by local media, the Nepali Army has moved former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, and several ministers to the Command and Staff College in Shivapuri for their safety.
The source added that the transfer covered all of the ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel. Ministers were abducted from the Bhaisepati quarters, and Prachanda and Madhav Nepal were flown by helicopter from Singha Durbar to Shivapuri.
In a message to Gen Z on Wednesday night, Oli confirmed his position, stating he is “within a secure and secluded perimeter in Shivapuri.” Press Chautari Chairman Ganesh Pandey posted the statement on social media on behalf of Oli. It was written as a letter to “Dear Gen Z sons and daughters.”
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Prachanda called a gathering of opposition parties at Singha Durbar. Madhav Nepal was also there. The army transferred both leaders to Shivapuri when news broke that demonstrators had set fire to Prachanda’s house.
On Tuesday evening, Oli stepped down as prime minister. The Nepali Army took him by helicopter from Baluwatar to a safe place right after he quit. The source stated that the President, cabinet ministers, and other high-ranking officials had also been moved to secure places.
