Amid the controversy surrounding the Supreme Savings and Credit Cooperative case, one of the victims, Narayan Bahadur Paharai, has publicly clarified that he never filed a complaint against Rabi Lamichhane.
In a detailed Facebook post, Paharai stated that he is merely one of many depositors seeking the return of their savings. He mentioned that following the advice of the Area Police Office in Butwal, he submitted a general application requesting the return of his deposited funds — but it was not directed against any individual.
“The police presented me as the primary complainant without even consulting me,” Paharai explained. He expressed confusion over why he, with a relatively small savings amount, was singled out, while others with larger deposits were not similarly treated.
The Rupandehi District Court filed a case under the title “Government of Nepal vs. Narayan Bahadur Paharai and Others,” leading many to wrongly assume that Paharai had personally targeted Rabi Lamichhane. “There is no truth in the claim that I filed a complaint against Rabi Lamichhane,” he said.
Paharai criticized the government’s slow response, pointing out that while some individuals were arrested, no real steps were taken to return the victims’ savings. “We never demanded arrests or prosecutions. We only asked for our savings to be returned,” he emphasized.
He further stated that if anyone had used his name for personal interests, he would be willing to withdraw his complaint altogether.
