Nancy Guthrie Update: Sheriff Says Investigators Are “Definitely Closer”

Sheriff Chris Nanos says investigators have “a lot of intel” and leads as they work to identify a suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says investigators are “definitely closer” to identifying a suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, as her daughter Savannah Guthrie visited the area to see the growing memorial outside her mother’s home.

Savannah Guthrie, along with her sister Annie and Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, visited the area and put some yellow flowers and a card outside her mother’s home, according to a report by TODAY, where NBC’s Liz Kreutz reported on the story.

In the same report, Nanos spoke about the investigation and how they are working through many leads. “We’ve got a lot of intel,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said on the Today Show. “We are working through numerous leads as the investigation continues,” he added.

In another interview with NBC News, Nanos spoke about the Ring camera video that was first reported by Fox News Digital. In the video, about a dozen cars can be seen passing the camera, which was set up in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood. This was around the time that Nancy was last seen, as her pacemaker synced with her iPhone at 2:36 a.m. on February 1. Nancy was 84 years old at the time.

Nanos was asked if the investigators had identified the car that was seen passing the camera at 2:36 a.m. on February 1. “No,” he replied.

Nanos was then asked what the investigators are doing about the video. “We’re aware of it, and we’re looking into it. Just like any other piece of evidence,” he replied. He was then asked if they are reviewing the car that was seen passing the camera. “Hundreds of thousands of other vehicles that were on the road at that time,” he replied.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona, on January 31 and has been missing more than a month.
