A 31-year-old man in Texas has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s ex-husband in a violent altercation outside a birthday party, police announced. Authorities said Jamarcus Dewayne Doggett is facing a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of 44-year-old Wesley Allen Agent.
According to a statement by the Lufkin Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Glenn Street. They were told that Agent had been transported by personal vehicle to a local hospital, while Doggett had left the scene.
Police said Agent died from his injuries at the hospital around 3:15 a.m. Doggett was later located at a nearby home and questioned by investigators. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Angelina County Jail on one count of murder. His bond is pending.
Detectives with the Lufkin Police Department are continuing their investigation with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers.
