Kremlin Dismisses Nordic Drone Allegations as ‘Baseless’

Moscow brushes off Denmark and Norway’s drone reports as “baseless,” saying the West repeats unfounded accusations.

The Kremlin brushed aside fresh claims by Denmark and Norway that Russian drones penetrated their territorial airspace, calling the allegations unfounded and tedious.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Western capitals have been making “baseless accusations over and over again,” which Moscow no longer takes seriously. “A country with a serious and justified policy should not issue unsubstantiated accusations over and over again,” he said.

The comments came after reports of unidentifiable drones on Monday led to short shutdowns at the airports in Copenhagen and Oslo. Danish officials confirmed that many huge drones flew about Copenhagen Airport, causing flight delays for hours. Norway also reported a similar occurrence at Oslo. Both countries’ presidents have not ruled out the potential that the flights were connected to Russia, although they have not made any public evidence of this.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen labelled the incursion as “the most serious attack to date on Danish critical infrastructure,” and said all parties, including Russia, were not being ruled out by the authorities, DPA reports.

The Kremlin rejected involvement in the incidents. Peskov’s comments follow earlier Russian government denials of European accusations of incursions into airspace.
