Ukraine Says Strike Hits Kharkiv Kindergarten; 1 Dead, 7 Injured

Ukraine reports 1 dead, 7 injured in Kharkiv kindergarten strike; Kyiv urges sanctions and air defense support.

A Russian missile strike on a kindergarten in Kharkiv on Wednesday killed one person and injured seven, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported. He called for tighter sanctions and more weapons, saying “Russian barbarism has no limits.”

In an earlier post, Sybiha had said overnight raids targeted energy infrastructure and residential areas across the country, depriving communities of electricity, heat, and water. At least six people were killed, including a young mother and two children, he said, urging partners to activate more energy aid and air defense ahead of winter. Andrii Sybiha also echoed Kyiv’s demand for more sanctions, u tilization of seized Russian assets, and more long-range capabilities.

Local authorities had not originally reported the scope of damage from the bombing of Kharkiv in great detail. Independent verification of the dead and wounded was not yet available.

Ukraine has faced repeated missile and drone strikes against its power grid since last winter, forcing emergency shutdowns and rolling repairs.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked friends for more air defense batteries and mobile generation to help stabilize the grid before the weather becomes colder.
