Jack Tiwari Concedes Gainesville District Primary After Narrow Four-Vote Loss

The Gainesville District primary was decided by just four votes in one of Prince William County’s closest races.

Gainesville District Supervisor candidate Jack Tiwari has conceded the Democratic primary election to George Stewart, ending one of the tightest local contests in recent Prince William County history. The race was decided by just four votes — a margin that underscores the significance of every ballot cast.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Tiwari expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, campaign volunteers, and the voters of the Gainesville District. “The fact that we came up just four votes short shows just how close this race was and how much every voice truly matters,” he wrote.

He praised the campaign’s volunteer network, acknowledging “countless hours” spent knocking on doors, making phone calls, and engaging with neighbors about the issues facing the district. According to Tiwari, their commitment formed “the heart of this campaign,” and he described himself as humbled by their dedication.

Addressing residents directly, Tiwari thanked voters for supporting his vision of “responsible growth, better schools, and a stronger community.” He said that civic engagement is what “makes our democracy work” and emphasized that his dedication to local issues will continue beyond the campaign.

Tiwari also extended congratulations to George Stewart, calling the contest “a hard-fought race” and wishing him success in the months ahead. “Although this chapter is closing, my commitment to the people of Prince William County and the Gainesville District is unwavering,” he stated, pledging to remain a voice for positive change.

The four-vote difference serves as a reminder of the critical role of voter participation in local elections. While Tiwari’s name will not be on the November ballot, he signaled plans to stay active in community affairs, working alongside residents toward shared goals.
