A senior Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for talks, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The Foreign Office said the delegation was visiting Pakistan to take part in what it described as the Islamabad Talks.
According to the statement, the group was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
The statement said Dar expressed hope that the parties would engage constructively. It added that Pakistan wants to continue helping the sides work toward a lasting solution to the conflict.
A U.S. delegation led by Vice President JD Vance was also heading to Islamabad for the weekend talks
