VT Staff | Kathmandu: Infinity Holdings says it has no connections to Sudan Gurung and hasn’t worked with him since COVID.
Shankar Group, which owns Infinity Holdings, said in a news release that the company has not dealt with Sudan Gurung or his organization since the COVID-era rescue efforts and has no affiliations to his political or institutional activities.
The statement claimed that during the global pandemic, Infinity worked with the volunteer group Hami Nepal as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to help Nepalis who were sick or injured get better. “We chose them as implementation partners to help Nepalese people affected by COVID,” the company stated. They also said that the help was made public at the time and that Hami Nepal confirmed it on its website. Infinity said, “We haven’t worked with that group since then.”
Reports in the news, on social media, and in print have incorrectly linked Deepak Bhatt, the chairman of Infinity Holdings, Sahil Agrawal, the director of Shankar Group, and Gurung. According to Shankar Group, the statement termed the claims “misleading and fictitious” and said that sources published assumptions “without seeking facts.”
The release started by honoring the people who died and were hurt during protests led by Gen-Z on Bhadra 23 and 24. It also talked about how the riots hurt private property. Infinity alleged that the newly established Hotel Hilton, which was run “under the banner of Jagdamba Hospitality Group,” was set on fire and “reduced to ashes.” This hurt Nepal’s business, tourism, and economy as a whole, according to the corporation. Virginia Times has not checked on its own to see how bad the damage is.
The company stated it expects to start up again even though it lost money. The statement continued, “In this hour of crisis, we will once again compose ourselves and start our business with new energy.”
Infinity told people not to believe “misleading and false fabricated news” about the company’s ties to Gurung. The statement continued, “We don’t care about or have anything to do with his and his group’s politics or institutional activities.”
Deepak Bhatt, the chairman of Infinity Holdings, and Sahil Agrawal, the director of Shankar Group, both signed the news release.
