Asia Cup Final: India beat Pakistan by five wickets

Tilak Varma’s 69* and a measured middle-order stand carry India past 147 with an over in hand.

India finished the job with calm hands and clear heads, reaching 150/5 to chase down Pakistan’s 146 and win the Asia Cup T20 final by five wickets with an over to spare.

Pakistan looked set for more after an 84-run opening stand from Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman. Then the wheels came off. From 113/1, the innings slipped to 146 all out in 19.1 overs as India tightened the screws in the middle and closed hard at the end.

India’s reply wasn’t smooth either. Three early wickets put them at 58/3 and brought the game to a slow boil. Sanju Samson’s 24 steadied the chase. Tilak Varma then took control with a neat, unfussy 69 not out, and Shivam Dube added a composed 33. They picked their moments, kept the rate in check, and left little drama for the finish.

    Scoreline:

    • Pakistan 146 (19.1 overs): Farhan 57, Zaman 46
    • India 150/5 (19.0 overs): Varma 69*, Dube 33, Samson 24
    • Result: India won by 5 wickets

In the end, India was sharper when it counted. They choked Pakistan after a good start and kept their cool during the chase. A clean, professional triumph to take home the award.
