WASHINGTON — Agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home Monday morning, two people familiar with the criminal investigation told the Associated Press.
They identified the agents as members of Homeland Security Investigations. Both spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they lacked permission to discuss the investigation publicly.
The Justice Department acknowledged a search in the Washington, D.C., area. In a statement reported by Reuters, it said HSI had carried out a search under a warrant obtained by the department and authorized by a judge.
That statement gave no details about the investigation and did not identify Omar.
AP said it had asked the Democratic congresswoman’s representative for comment.
