Post Says Israeli Settlers Attacked Photographer in West Bank

The newspaper says Levine received medical care and is safe.

Heidi Levine, a photographer for The Washington Post, was attacked by Israeli settlers Friday morning while reporting in the West Bank, the newspaper said.

Levine was wearing visible markings identifying her as a journalist when the attack happened, according to the Post. She has received medical care and is safe.

Matt Murray, the Post’s executive editor, expressed relief over her safety but said the newspaper was “outraged by this unwarranted attack on a journalist doing her job.”

He urged “a thorough investigation and follow-through from authorities.”

The statement did not specify the location within the West Bank, describe Levine’s injuries or identify individual attackers. It included no response from Israeli authorities.

Virginia Times has not independently verified the circumstances of the attack.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
