Federal Judge Temporarily Halts Deportation of Terror Suspect’s Family

U.S. District Judge Gordon Gallagher has issued a temporary stay of deportation for Hayem El Gamal — the wife of suspected terrorist Mohamed Soliman — and their children, citing a need to preserve the court’s jurisdiction and prevent potential irreparable harm.

“Moreover, the court finds that deportation without process could work irreparable harm and an order must issue without notice due to the urgency this situation presents,” Judge Gallagher wrote in his order.

The emergency decision comes amid intensifying legal and political scrutiny following Soliman’s arrest in connection with the recent Boulder, Colorado, terrorist attack. The judge scheduled a hearing for a temporary restraining order on June 13 at the federal courthouse in Denver.

This brief relief temporarily blocks the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from proceeding with the family’s removal until the court can hear full arguments on the matter.
