MCLEAN, Va. — Fairfax County police arrested one of their off-duty officers Thursday night on three domestic assault charges, the department said Friday.
Police identified the officer as Brandon Moore, 35, of McLean. He joined the department three years ago and works at the McLean Police District Station. The charges are assault and battery of a family or household member.
Officers responded to a domestic assault report in the 1600 block of Sunstone Drive about 9 p.m. Oct. 15. A woman told officers she had been assaulted after a verbal argument, according to the department.
Police said the investigation brought additional reports of assault to light. Detectives also obtained an emergency substantial risk order.
Moore’s administrative leave is pending the outcome of criminal and administrative investigations, the department said.
“The FCPD takes all allegations of domestic violence seriously,” Police Chief Kevin Davis said in the release. “Help is available 24/7 through our Domestic Violence Action Center at 703-246-4573.”
This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
