A Russian strike on Kyiv overnight killed at least 14 people, including three children, and damaged dozens of buildings — among them the offices of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as a “horrific and deliberate killing of civilians,” urging a firm global response and tougher sanctions.
International Condemnation
President of the European Council António Costa said he was “horrified” by the deadly barrage and stressed that “the EU will not be intimidated.”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said another night of “relentless bombings” hit civilian infrastructure and the EU Delegation building, noting staff are safe and calling on Russia to halt indiscriminate attacks and engage in talks for a just, lasting peace.
Kaja Kallas, Vice President of the European Commission, said she spoke with EU staff in Kyiv after their office was hit, affirmed that “no diplomatic mission should ever be a target,” and announced the Russian envoy will be summoned in Brussels.
French President Emmanuel Macron called the bombardment “terror and barbarism,” noting that offices of the EU Delegation and the British Council were damaged.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his thoughts were with those affected by the “senseless” strikes that damaged the British Council building, adding that “this bloodshed must end.”
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen strongly condemned the attack, saying it “clearly shows that Putin has no interest in peace.”
U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet issued a public statement.
