Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s deep-strike range has surpassed 3,000 kilometers and that officials approved continued operations against targets in Russia.
Zelenskyy said the decision followed a meeting on deep-strike operations. He said officials also updated Ukraine’s priority target list based on how each target affects Russia’s ability to continue the war.
Ukraine has carried out more than 1,000 fire missions this year under its long-range operations plan, Zelenskyy said. He said the strikes hit oil facilities, critical military production sites and important parts of Russia’s logistics network.
Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian drones have reached targets in the Ural region, Siberia and other areas far from Moscow.
Zelenskyy said Russia’s strategic depth has become a problem because much of its air defense is concentrated near Moscow, state residences, the Crimean Bridge and St. Petersburg.
Zelenskyy said the operations aim to disrupt weapons-component production, cause oil-related and other economic losses, and pressure Russia to pursue diplomacy.
