Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, remains admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and is stable under observation, according to Hindustan Times. A statement from Sunny Deol’s team urged people to avoid misinformation and to pray for his recovery.
Conflicting reports circulated late Monday alleging the actor was on ventilator support and had died. Family representatives dismissed both claims and asked the public not to spread false rumours, reported by Times of India. The outlet said he has been under medical care after episodes of breathlessness.
At the same time, some outlets cited unnamed sources saying ventilator support had been initiated, reported by NDTV. That assertion was contradicted by a family source who said he was not on a ventilator and his condition was being closely monitored, according to The Indian Express.
Hema Malini asked fans for prayers and said the family is with him, Hindustan Times said. The Times of India also said that family and friends went to the hospital as rumors spread online.
As of Tuesday, Nov. 11, no official statement announces Dharmendra’s death. The family says he is stable and under observation.
