A former Ohio State standout and NFL linebacker has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after the death of his girlfriend, authorities announced.
In a press release posted on social media, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office stated, “On the afternoon of Thursday, February 5, 2026, deputies responded to a residence located at the 7500 block of Snow Cone Way after a 911 caller reported CPR in progress. First responders located a female victim and began life-saving measures, however, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Due to the state of the victim and the residence, investigators with the sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigative Services responded to the scene, and preliminary investigation revealed the cause of death for the female victim was a homicide.
The victim’s boyfriend, Darron Lee, 31, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence, the sheriff’s office stated.
The sheriff’s office stated, “The identity of the victim will not be released at this time as next of kin are being notified.” The sheriff’s office also stated, “This is preliminary information, which is subject to change as the investigation continues, and no further information is available at this time.”
According to the Associated Press, Darron Lee is a former Ohio State football player and a first-round draft pick into the NFL.
The Associated Press stated, “Lee played in 58 games for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills from 2016 to 2020.”
No court documents have been released by the sheriff’s office with the press release, and no information has been released on the circumstances leading up to the death of the woman, aside from the preliminary investigation showing the cause of death to be a homicide.
