Ukraine Destroys Crimea Railway Bridge, Cuts Russian Supply Route

Strikes sever a key Russian weapons-and-fuel route as Crimea halts fuel sales and loses power

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces destroyed a railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne overnight, cutting a major route Russia has used to move weapons and fuel across occupied Crimea.

The operation also struck more than 60 other targets, including radar systems, air defense launchers and fuel storage facilities at the Kerch thermal power plant.

Russian-installed authorities have halted all civilian fuel sales in Crimea, and parts of the peninsula are without power.

Russia retaliated Tuesday, firing a ballistic missile that hit a civilian infrastructure facility in Kryvyi Rih and killed at least three people while wounding 25, according to the Kyiv Independent.

This is just the beginning. — Ukraine’s U.N. ambassador

President Zelenskyy said Wednesday on X that Ukrainian forces destroyed more than 60,000 tons of ammunition at a Baltic Fleet arsenal near St. Petersburg. He cited a report from Oleh Ivashchenko, head of Ukraine’s defense intelligence.

Zelenskyy said intelligence documents showed Russia has moved air defense systems from other regions to protect Moscow and the Kerch Bridge.

Battlefield damage claims could not be independently verified.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will update as information becomes available.
