    Chargers beat Chiefs 27–21 in São Paulo; Herbert tosses 3 TDs

    The most recent NFL game on the books is the Los Angeles Chargers’ 27–21 triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil, late Friday night. Justin Patrick Herbert, quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, passes three touchdown and sealed the win with a late scramble on third-and-14.     Herbert threw two touchdown passes to Quentin Johnston (5 and 23 yards) and one to Keenan Allen (11 yards). With 2:14 left, Herbert ran 19 yards to midfield to waste time and make Kansas City use its last timeout before Los Angeles knelt it out.     Patrick Mahomes kept Kansas City close with an 11-yard rushing score and a 37-yard scoring toss to Travis Kelce, but the Chiefs missed two chances to convert and had to settle for a late field goal by Harrison Butker.     The game, which was aired on YouTube, had 47,627 paid fans. It was part of the NFL’s growing foreign schedule. The league’s support page had information about the Brazil opening, including the teams and the place.

    NFL.com said that rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy hurt his shoulder and had to leave early. He will have an MRI when the team gets back.

    The Chiefs will play Philadelphia on September 14 and the Chargers will play Las Vegas on September 15.
