The BBC’s celebrity edition of The Traitors has confirmed its full cast, featuring actor-presenter Stephen Fry and comedian Alan Carr among 19 high-profile contestants, according to Deadline.
The celebrity spin-off, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, follows the hit format in which a small group of “Traitors” attempt to outmaneuver the “Faithful” in a high-stakes social deduction game for charity. Other names in the line-up include Tom Daley, Charlotte Church, Jonathan Ross, Clare Balding, Paloma Faith, Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, David Olusoga, Joe Marler, Joe Wilkinson, Lucy Beaumont, Ruth Codd, Mark Bonnar, Kate Garraway, Tameka Empson, Niko Omilana and Cat Burns, Deadline reported.
Radio Times says that the show started on BBC One in October and will end on Thursday, November 6. Radio Times said that episodes have been on BBC One and iPlayer every night at 9 p.m.
Why it matters: a marquee roster signals how celebrity formats continue to blend entertainment, competition and charity—an ongoing trend in mainstream TV. With Fry’s profile and Carr’s reality-TV instincts, producers are banking on big-tent appeal as the franchise expands.
