Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said she resigned from her post because President Donald Trump kept “siding with Putin” instead of backing Ukraine. She said the same pattern is now playing out under her successor.
In a post on X, Brink wrote that she stepped down when Trump “kept siding with Putin over our democratic partner.” She said the decision pushed her to speak publicly and run for office, adding that “siding with dictators is just not who we are.”
Her remarks followed a post by Financial Times correspondent Amy Mackinnon, who wrote on X that Julie Davis, the acting U.S. ambassador in Kyiv, is leaving the State Department after becoming frustrated with Trump’s declining support for Ukraine.
Mackinnon reported that Davis’s departure follows Brink’s resignation, which Mackinnon described as having happened for similar reasons early last year.
The posts did not provide further details on the timing of Davis’s departure or include a formal State Department statement.
