Boulder, Colorado — Authorities have identified eight victims following a violent attack at the Pearl Street Mall on June 1. According to the Boulder Police Department, the assault occurred during a regularly scheduled peaceful walk, leaving multiple individuals injured by a makeshift flame thrower and an incendiary device thrown into the crowd.

The incident took place at 1325 Pearl Street at 1:26 p.m. Police responded within minutes and arrested the suspect at 1:32 p.m. He has been identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 45-year-old resident of El Paso County. Soliman was medically evaluated and then booked into the Boulder County Jail on multiple charges.

Witnesses reported that Soliman shouted “Free Palestine” as he launched the attack. Victims — four men and four women ranging in age from 52 to 88 — were transported to hospitals across the Denver metro area for treatment.

“Boulder is not immune to tragedy sadly… Boulder has recovered from acts of violence before and we will again recover,” said Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn.

The Boulder Police Department requested FBI support within minutes of the attack. Federal agents are now assisting in processing the crime scene, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence. The FBI has officially classified the incident as a targeted act of terrorism.

Mark Michalek, FBI Special Agent in Charge of the Denver field office, expressed solidarity with the victims and emphasized accountability:

“We will continue to ensure that justice is pursued swiftly, support is provided to victims and their communities, and preventative action is taken to protect everyone’s safety.”

Increased police presence has been announced across Boulder in the aftermath of the incident, especially at public events and locations deemed vulnerable.

    Israeli Prime Minister Responds

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, characterizing it as an antisemitic act of terror. In a statement issued on Monday, Netanyahu emphasized the peaceful nature of the victims and attributed the attack to rising hate rhetoric:

“This attack was aimed against peaceful people who wished to express their solidarity with the hostages held by Hamas, simply because they were Jews,” Netanyahu stated.

He added that the government of Israel expects U.S. authorities to fully prosecute the “cold-blooded perpetrator” and warned that antisemitic attacks are escalating globally, driven by dangerous rhetoric and misinformation.

    What’s Next

Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation while the victims remain under medical care. Soliman’s motive is under examination, including the possible ideological influences behind the targeted assault. Additional public safety measures are expected to remain in place throughout Boulder in the coming days.

This is a developing story. Virginia Times will provide continued updates as new details emerge.
