A Ukrainian attack damaged the dam of the Belgorod reservoir on Saturday, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said, warning that a second hit would flood low-lying areas along the border and affect around 1,000 people, Anadolu Agency reported.
“As a result of Ukraine’s strike, there is damage to the dam of the Belgorod reservoir,” Gladkov said. He added that a repeat strike could inundate parts of the river valley on the Kharkiv side and several streets in nearby settlements where about 1,000 people live, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.
Ukraine has made no comment on the claim.
