AT&T Data Breach Settlement Opens to Claims: Deadlines, Payouts, and How to File

$177M settlement splits across the 2019 and 2024 breaches; Kroll is accepting claims, with opt-outs due Oct. 17 and final approval on Dec. 3.

    NEED TO KNOW
    • Claims are open now; final claim deadline is Nov. 18, 2025. Opt-out and objection deadline: Oct. 17, 2025; final approval hearing: Dec. 3, 2025 (9:00 a.m. CT).
    • Two classes: AT&T 1 (2019 breach) and AT&T 2 (2024 Snowflake breach). Overlap members may file in both.
    • Documented-loss caps: up to $5,000 (AT&T 1) and up to $2,500 (AT&T 2); tiered or pro-rata cash available if no proof.

    The Big Picture

AT&T has been hit by two of the largest data breaches in recent history — and now, nearly two years later, affected customers are in line for compensation. On June 20, U.S. District Judge Ada E. Brown preliminarily approved a $177 million settlement arising from breaches revealed in 2024, and the administrator Kroll began accepting claims on Aug. 4, 2025, according to the official site telecomdatasettlement.com.

    What’s New

The settlement splits into two tracks: AT&T 1 allocates $149 million for those affected by the 2019 breach disclosed in 2024; AT&T 2 allocates $28 million for those affected by the 2024 Snowflake breach. People hit by both may submit claims in each track. Filing requires a Class Member ID (sent by Kroll via email), but those without a notice can request one by phone or mail. The claims site has occasionally placed visitors in a short virtual queue due to high demand, according to the settlement administrator.

    What They’re Saying

“This is the only authorized website for this case.”

    Context

The settlement covers two separate breaches. The 2019 breach (revealed in 2024) exposed Social Security numbers, birth dates, and other personal details for 7.6 million current customers and 65.4 million former account holders; AT&T reset passwords for current customers affected. The 2024 Snowflake breach involved access to 2022 phone records for nearly 109 million customers; the group ShinyHunters was linked to the attack, and two suspects were later arrested. Lawsuits from both incidents were consolidated in March 2025, paving the way for this resolution.

    What’s Next

Confirm whether you belong to the AT&T 1 and/or AT&T 2 classes, gather documentation of any out-of-pocket losses, and file your claim by Nov. 18, 2025. Those who wish to keep the option to sue separately must opt out by Oct. 17, 2025. The court will consider final approval on Dec. 3, 2025; payments would follow if the settlement is approved and any appeals conclude.

    The Bottom Line

If you were affected by the AT&T breaches, you could qualify for cash — either through documented-loss claims or tiered/pro-rata payments. Check your eligibility, file on time, and use your Class Member ID or contact the administrator for assistance.
