READ: Trump Urged DOJ Officials To Declare 2020 Election Corrupt -Notes Show

“just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen,” Trump said.

The House Oversight Committee released handwritten notes on Friday taken by former Acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, who recorded two late December phone call meetings between Trump and top officials from the Department of Justice in which former president Donald Trump instructed DOJ officials to take steps to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

During the December 27, 2020, call, Trump pressured Jeffrey Rosen and acting deputy attorney general Richard Donoghue to falsely declare the election “illegal” and “corrupt” even after the Justice Department had not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Trump said on the call ” just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me” and congressional allies,” According to Donoghue’s notes.

“These handwritten notes show that President Trump directly instructed our nation’s top law enforcement agency to take steps to overturn a free and fair election in the final days of his presidency,” House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) said in a statement.
