Togliatti Factories Damaged in Drone Attack, Kyiv Claims Plant Hit

Kyiv also reported strikes in Oryol and at Yeysk airfield, while Moscow said air defences destroyed 1,297 drones in 24 hours

A drone attack damaged several industrial facilities in the Russian city of Togliatti on Saturday. Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces hit the Togliattikauchuk petrochemical plant there.

There were no fatalities or injuries in early reports, Mayor Ilya Sukhikh said. Reuters reported he did not specify which facilities were damaged.

The plant is one of Russia’s largest synthetic rubber producers, according to the General Staff.

The General Staff listed a second target: the Proton electronics plant in the Oryol region. Kyiv says the plant makes components used in cruise and ballistic missiles.

Andrei Klychkov, the Oryol regional governor, said a Ukrainian missile strike on Friday killed three people at a civilian facility. He did not identify the facility.

An aircraft at Yeysk airfield, in southern Russia, was also hit, Ukraine’s military said. Officials near the airfield confirmed an attack in the area. They put the damage at minor harm to two apartment buildings.

Moscow gave a far larger count of what its forces shot down. Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defences destroyed 1,297 drones in the previous 24 hours, along with one French-made SCALP cruise missile and four Ukrainian Neptune missiles.
