Fairfax Man Killed in Connecticut Avenue Shooting, Police Say

Ronnie Amarion Massey, 22, of Fairfax, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1300 block early Sunday, D.C. police said.

WASHINGTON — D.C. police have identified the man killed in a shooting early Sunday on Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington as Ronnie Amarion Massey, 22, of Fairfax, Virginia.

Officers from the Second District went to the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue at about 2:52 a.m. Sunday after a report of a shooting, the Metropolitan Police Department said. They located two adult victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds: a male who was unconscious and not breathing and a female who was conscious and breathing.

Massey was pronounced dead at the scene, despite efforts by DC Fire and EMS crews to save him. A local hospital treated the woman for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

One window at a nearby unoccupied business was also damaged, police said. No one else was reported injured.

Police said a second shooting on Connecticut Avenue that morning, in the 1700 block, wounded a man who was taken to a hospital. They said there was no evidence the two shootings were connected.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
