WASHINGTON — D.C. police said four people were shot and wounded in two separate incidents near Howard University late Saturday. The two shootings happened during the university’s homecoming weekend, and none of the four victims’ injuries were life-threatening.
Officers first got the call at about 11:27 p.m., from the 700 block of V Street Northwest. Officers who responded found evidence that shots had been fired but found nobody wounded at the scene, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
The victim turned up at a hospital. A short time later, a juvenile male walked in with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound; the hospital notified police, the department said.
At about 11:53 p.m. — 26 minutes later — officers were called to the 900 block of Florida Avenue Northwest. Three people had been shot there — two juvenile males and an adult male, police said.
D.C. Fire and EMS took all three to hospitals. Their injuries were not life-threatening. A fourth man was also a victim in the Florida Avenue shooting, detectives determined, but he was not injured. Officers recovered a firearm in the immediate area.
For the Florida Avenue shooting, police are looking for a man with an Afro and a goatee who was wearing a light-colored puffer coat. No arrest had been made as of Sunday afternoon, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police have not confirmed whether the two shootings are connected. They also have not said whether any of the victims are Howard students.
Anyone with information about either shooting can call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411, the department said.
