Zelenskyy: Russian Strikes Kill 2; Ukraine Claims Hits in Russia

Russian attacks overnight killed two people and injured 14 in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday, claiming that Ukrainian long-range strikes hit a refinery and military targets in Russia.

Strikes hit homes in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and the Odesa, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X. Both deaths were in Zaporizhzhia, and he sent condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones.

The post listed damage to a kindergarten in Kyiv, a lyceum in the Kyiv region, a university in Kharkiv and energy infrastructure in the Poltava, Mykolaiv and Vinnytsia regions. Those figures have not been independently verified.

Zelenskyy’s second post turned to Ukraine’s own strikes. The Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar region was hit overnight, he wrote.

Ukraine’s strikes in the Rostov region hit a Pantsir-S2 system and a plant supplying Russian forces with components for missiles and artillery, according to Zelenskyy.

Ukraine’s “sanctions,” as he put it, were applied to logistics facilities supporting the war. He mentioned results in the Black Sea without giving details. There was no independent confirmation of the Ukrainian claims.

Zelenskyy thanked the Security Service of Ukraine, the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy for their precision.

His first post pressed Western leaders to act. Russia “is escalating every single day,” Zelenskyy wrote, and if Moscow makes its strikes more brutal, the world must respond more strongly to keep the war from spreading.

He asked President Donald Trump to put the Lindsey Graham Act into effect against Russia and anyone financing its war. From Presidents António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen, he sought additional European sanctions.

Zelenskyy urged all leaders not to drop Russian oligarchs from existing sanctions lists and to keep restricting trade with Russia until it stops the war. Peace, he wrote, must be brought closer through joint efforts every day.
